Who we are

Islamia’s vision is to produce well balanced, enlightened, empowered, independent-thinking, conscientious human beings, subscribing to Divine guidance and emulating the ideals of prophetic examples who play a constructive role as compassionate, informed individuals in society.

Islamia College was founded in 1984, and was located in Rylands Estate, Cape Town, South Africa as the Habibia Girls College. It was founded under the leadership of the community based board of directors. The College started with 2 grades and 47 students in the storeroom of Habibia Masjid. The institute is now based at Lansdowne Road, Rondebosch East and has grown to a campus with five components.

Islamia Receives Diamond Award at 2019 PMR Awards

The PMR (Professional Management Review) Africa Awards took place in June 2019 and Islamia College won the Diamond Arrow Award for the Muslim Business Survey’s Business Excellence Award for 2019. These are independent surveys done where businesses have to be nominated in order to receive the award and are presented to businesses which play a crucial role in economic growth and development in their category. Top Spot in the 7-a-Side Football Festival

Our U11 boys’ soccer team took part in the Salt River Blackpool FC Primary School 7-a-side Youth Football Festival and were crowned champions in their division. With their families and friends supporting them at the Youth Day centered event, it was a fun-filled day with camaraderie and excitement that filled their air.
