Who we are

Islamia’s vision is to produce well balanced, enlightened, empowered, independent-thinking, conscientious human beings, subscribing to Divine guidance and emulating the ideals of prophetic examples who play a constructive role as compassionate, informed individuals in society.

Islamia College was founded in 1984, and was located in Rylands Estate, Cape Town, South Africa as the Habibia Girls College. It was founded under the leadership of the community based board of directors. The College started with 2 grades and 47 students in the storeroom of Habibia Masjid. The institute is now based at Lansdowne Road, Rondebosch East and has grown to a campus with five components.

Unveiling of the Imam Haron Foundation Plaque

Members of the Islamia College board, staff and students, as well as the family of Imam Imam Abdullah Haron, gathered at the school for the unveiling of the plaque in memory of him and all those killed in detention during apartheid. AMS National Soccer Tournament

During the September school holidays, our AMS team headed off to Johannesburg for the annual soccer tournament. After weeks of training and dedication, their performance this year resulted in three teams qualifying for knockout stages after a grueling round-robin schedule.
